Look at PS58's Garden Grow!

Thank you to all the families that helped take care of our school garden this summer!  It was a hot summer and our garden needed a lot of watering!

Our tomatoes and peppers are still growing!  Our herbs look fabulous and green!  We even have some onions!

We have some plum tomatoes growing!

Our nasturtiums are on their second round of growth!

Welcome Back!

What a great first few days of school!  It has been so much fun hearing about all the wonderful things you all have done this summer.  Amazing trips both near and far, critters caught, fabulous camps, ocean and lake swimming and so much more!

Here are a few things I saw this summer in Brooklyn, New Hampshire and Nantucket!

In Brooklyn I saw...

A swallowtail butterfly!

A dragonfly with transparent wings.

Big mushrooms!

I'm still not sure what type of caterpillar this I found
walking along the sidewalk!

 In New Hampshire I saw.....

My daughter found a fast, little toad.

I took a walk in the New Hampshire woods
every day.

I took my dog, Delilah, to the lake to swim.

 On Nantucket I saw...

Seagulls searching for food.

Horseshoe crabs.

I swam in the ocean every day!

 Back in Brooklyn....

Fluffy and Friends Return to Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard.

Today is the day that Fluffy travelled to Harvest Moon Farm.  It is hard to say good bye to our duckling, but I think Fluffy will have a great time on the farm.

the bigger ones are in the front.

They are starting to lose their downy feathers.

I will really miss Fluffy.  It was a lot of fun watching Fluffy grow (and nibble on our shoe laces) but I know he or she will have lots of fun at the farm roaming freely!

Our Duckling Has a Name!

On Friday, the three Pre-K classes voted for a name for our duckling!  Would it be Rosabella? Fluffy or Quack?  It was a close race, but Fluffy won by a narrow margin!

Fluffy now spends the night with her other duck friends in Miss Amelia's room. They are all so happy to snuggle with one another. They've become good duck friends! 

Since Fluffy is the oldest duckling, all the other ducks follow her lead...right back to the science room!

Bundles comes and stays with Fluffy during the day so Fluffy won't be lonely. They loved swimming in the pool.  Well, really relaxing, as the water wasn't deep enough.  Everyone thought it was pretty funny that they both pooped in the pool right away!

Day Four with the Duckling!

Today the duckling went visiting around our school!  First it went to room 205 to meet some relatives!  Miss Amelia's class has three ducklings (one is still in the incubator)!  We had some fun duck time!

Later in the day we went to meet the kids in Mrs. Simm's class.  The duckling really likes nibbling on shoe laces!  And boy can it (we don't know if it's a girl or a boy - not until it gets older) run fast!!

Next we went to visit Mrs Hatheway's class since they were next door!  More shoelaces to nibble on!

We decided to go through the gym to get back to the brooder and what should we see?  Three kindergarten classes!!  The little duck had so much fun running and sliding around the gym!

Then some people came to visit the duckling! By the way, Pre-K is voting on a name for the duckling tomorrow!
